After the fire the City Council decided to prohibit the erection of wooden buildings on the line of Bolshaya
street. Buildings facing the line of the street only were allowed to build of the stone under the iron roof. Nearly all floors of buildings have been brought to commercial enterprises, printing houses, cafes, offices of firms. There were all branches of commercial banks, offices of commercial and industrial companies, fashionable hotels, restaurants, entertainment companies, newspapers, educational institutions. The street was set in order, it paved with cobblestones and end pieces, paved walkways. November 5, 1920 Bolshaya Street was renamed the street of Karl Marx. In 30-50-ies new houses were built there and some old ones were renovated. |
